Steps to take in the event of a death

1. Contact the hospital or relevant authorities of the person in question. In event of a prolong sickness the doctors or hospital should be informed. In the case of a sudden incident inform the police and they will contact the coroner who will pronounce the body dead and then you will have to contact the after care services.

3. Arrange with your Masjid regarding burial grave purchase & grave opening and closing authorization. Or Call Glenview Memorial cemetery (if you already own a grave plot), for assigning the grave location as well as grave opening & closing authorization. Things to know

There are some basic components for an Islamic burial/interment:

  • Transfer of the deceased to a Masjid with funeral facility OR regular funeral home.
  • Performing washing (Ghusl), shroud ( Kaffan), and prayer for the deceased
  • Purchase of Burial Plot (in advance or at time of need)
  • Open/Close Charges for the Grave, paid for before or at time of Burial.
